Directions: From Uconn, Take HWY 195 south to Chaffeeville rd. Take a left on Chaffeeville rd. The parking area is hard to find. It is only about 1/2 mile down the road on the left. The entrance to the parking area is unmarked. Hike up the poorly marked blue blaze trail. Hike is steep. Fifty Footer, Pot Hole, and Wolf Rock are all within 10 min of eachother |
Ross Pond
Half Hill aka Ross Cliff is a fairly high cliff with some nice crack climbing. Some Lead but mainly Toprope. Weekends here tend to be busy. Directions: From Danielson, at I-395 take exit 91 to Route 6 East. Drive up Route 6 and take first right (South Frontage Rd.). Follow the signs to Old Furnace State Park. Pass by the state park and take the first road on the right. (Ross Rd.) Take another right onto a dirt road, you will see Ross Pond State Park sign on right. Park near the boulderfield. Go straight uphill for two good crack climbs. Continue down road and take next right onto Ross Rd. Pass Old furnace state park, Road is on the right. The dirt road will have a sign at the top for Ross Pond. Park at the end between two ponds. Hike up to the base of the cliff or continue left to gain access to the clifftop trail.
